POCSO Awareness Session Report
A POCSO Awareness Session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was
conducted by the State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh at St. John’s High School, Sector 26,
Chandigarh on 25 May 2026 for the teaching staff.
The session was conducted by Mr. Arun Kumar Aggarwal, who highlighted the objectives and key
provisions of the POCSO Act. He explained various forms of offences covered under the Act, including
sexual harassment, sexual assault, and the protection of children from abuse and exploitation. Teachers
were also informed about their responsibility to report any suspected case of child abuse and the
importance of maintaining a safe, secure, and child-friendly environment in schools.
The session was highly informative and enhanced the participants’ awareness of child rights, safety
measures, and legal provisions for the protection of children. The teachers appreciated the valuable
insights shared during the programme.
