BRIEF DESCRIPTION: (MAX 50 WORDS)
The purpose of the seminar was to spread awareness about the importance of good
nutrition for maintaining health, preventing lifestyle diseases and enhancing productivity.
The host was the head of department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Fortis Dt. Sonia Gandhi who
welcomed all the teachers
There were two Guest Speakers, Mr Mohit Nijhawan who is an entrepreneur of Embryonic
Greens. The company that spreads awareness about the nutritional value of the micro
greens that is the stage of the plant beyond sprouts. The stage of the stem and the two
cotyledons has forty times more nutritional value than the vegetable or fruit grown in that
plant. He displayed the micro greens grown in hydroponics.
The second Guest Speaker was Mr Jayvir Giri who is an Ayurvedic Medicine Producer who
works for Kheti Virasat Mission. Under this mission two hundred people are working to
counsel farmers and consumers to grow local, seasonal and high nutritional millets. He
enlightened us about twelve other millets like Fox Tail, Little, Kodo, Brown top, Barnyard,
Bajra etc. These are also known as positive grains which should be consumed more and the
consumption of wheat and rice should be reduced as these have less fibre and difficult to
digest.
The session was concluded by a small quiz and thanksgiving by the host.
