INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: St. John's High school proudly practices Inclusive Education in its true sense. St. John's has a dedicated Inclusive Education committee which includes a team of 3 counsellors, 4 special educators, the Principal and general teachers. The teachers and children are being regularly sensitized about the needs of the children with special needs like hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical disability, learning disability etc. by the team of counsellors and special educators. Special remedial classes are conducted not only for special children but also for those who are weak in academics.

CLIP: Striving to make St. John’s a place of adventure and creative thinking for the child, the school pioneered the CREATIVE LEARNING INTEGRATED PROGRAMME (CLIP). Books in classes were replaced by lessons and Worksheet booklets and quarterly inter disciplinary books. This has helped our juniors to develop an interdisciplinary approach towards education and fulfil the need to keep children’s bags light weight.

THE NCC: It was initiated in school with a compliment of 50 cadets. The Cadets are being given regular training in the finer parts of discipline and military issues. In 2017, for the first time we were declared the overall champions in the Annual Training Camp which was conducted by 2 CHD BN NCC at Ropar.

THE NSS: The school had initiated the NSS Programme with a complement of 86 volunteers, in the year 2016-17. The volunteers are actively involved in various programmes like, awareness campaigns on internet banking for the parents of the EWS, Blood Donation campaign, Disaster Management drills, adopting a village etc. We very proudly announce that our NSS wing was represented in the National Republic Day Parade 2018 by Anmol Rattan Singh.

JOHNIANS FOR JUSTICE: The social justice group of the school, has identified two global issues - Environment and HIV/AIDS. They work towards sensitizing and creating awareness among the general public. Their motto is 'Walk the Talk'. They have won the prestigious CLAP award for the year 2007 and Peace Award for 2008 from Yuvsatta. Their partnership with the MC's Health Department is a unique Health Programme.

COMPUTER AWARD: St. John's is a winner of the prestigious National Computer Literacy Award in the category of private schools. This award is instituted by the Ministry of Information and Technology for excellence in Computer Literacy and IT in the school at an early stage of schooling. The school houses two big computer labs and a Multimedia Room for students. It is an IT friendly school.

LEARNING CENTRE AND COUNSELLING CELL: For those with special learning needs, the Learning Centre in the Junior School and the Counsellors in the Senior School employ specially designed learning techniques to help them surmount these challenges. The students are free to connect with the counsellors to address their personal issues and concerns. Parents also seek help from the counsellors to address their concerns regarding their children. Family counselling is unique to the school's approach to resolving issues.

MUSIC ROOM: St. John’s has a very well equipped music room. From a piano as old as 77 years, to guitars both acoustic and electric, keyboards, tabla, harmonium, veena and a drum set that can bring the roof down - we have it all. We are not only proud of having the first School Rock Band in the city "The Soaring Eagles" recently launched it's 3rd music album - The Soaring Eagles- Through The Years. .

The School band has been declared No.1 in the Northern Region and No.4 in the Country in the Yamaha Teen Rock Band Competition.

THE CRUCIBLE: Crucible is the Literary Club designed to encourage its budding authors/poets. It was founded by Mr. Saboo, an ex Johnian and the SJOBA Foundation. The members get a chance to meet well known Authors from time to time who share their expertise in creative writing. Seven books of our students have already been published. One of the authors has gone on to become a script writer for T.V.

OUTREACH: To develop the spirit of 'Pro DeoEt Patria' amongst the Johnians, the school provides them with opportunities to interact with the less priviledged people in society. The students from class 6 onwards interact with and visit them on a regular basis. This programme has helped in developing the Emotional Quotient (EQ) of the Johnians. The students also render their time to the Big Buddy programme which provides tutorials to the Indradhanush (EWS) boys. KG and Class 1 adopt animals at the Chhatbir Zoo every year. Junior school has regular outreach visits. The school received the Punjab State Award for outstanding community service in 2013. Recently we have been honoured with the SKOCH ORDER OF MERIT for our community work.

SCIENCE AND MATHS LAB. : St. John’s boasts of three well equipped, well lit and airy science labs, where students from classes 6 to 10 regularly perform various experiments. Frequently the tiny tots of junior school can also be seen trotting happily towards these labs with eyes shining with expectations. A Maths activity room helps the little mathematicians understand the subject better. All the laboratories of St. John’s are conducive to the development of a scientific attitude in the students.

INDRADHANUSH PROGRAMME: This programme has not simply uplifted, but more importantly, has empowered the economically challenged young ones. The school takes particular pride in the fact that every effort is made to integrate the children into the main stream of the school. In school, frequent medical checkups and a nutrition programme is in place. These children have also been integrated into the new senior secondary wing. We are proud of the fact that the 1st batch of senior secondary students had 6 students from the EWS sitting for the Class 12 exam, one of whom went on to top the city in commerce in the EWS category. So great is the level of integration that our children sit on the Students Council.

ART ROOM : Children are taught different techniques in Art right from the latest CAD to Airbrushing, Silk and Screen printing, Designing, layout, still life, Sketching, Water Colours, Oil Pastels, Metal Installation, Oil Painting and Acrylic as well as photography.

SR. SECONDARY SCHOOL

Senior Secondary began in the year 2011-12 and first outgoing Class 12 in the year 2012-13. The Medical Wing was also initiated in 2013-14. A new stream was added in the Commerce Section with Sociology in 2015. The school has also added subjects like Legal Studies, Fine Arts, Psychology and Political Science.

CLUBS: The clubs help students to learn the applicability of concepts with hands on experience. It is mandatory for each Johnian to choose between the Eco club and Health Club as an activity. This helps in developing creativity with a conscience. Apart from these students also opt for the Science Club, the Dance Club, the Tech Club (Robotics), Interact Club, Heritage Club, The Crucible, CREWEA Club, Dramatics Club, Eco Club, Chef’s Club, Karate Club, MUN Club, Art & Craft, Photography Club etc.

LIBRARY: St. John's is the proud owner of two libraries - separate ones for the Junior and the Senior Schools which have an approximate collection of around 18000 books. We also hold the Best Library, Best Librarian, Maximum Prizes and Maximum Participation in the Chandigarh Librarians' Association awards.

SPORTS: St. John's is proud of its Cricket Academy, Football Academy, Squash Courts, Tennis Courts, Badminton Courts and Basketball Court for the school students . Apart from all these, students are provided opportunities to participate in gymnastics and athletics. National Presence: In gymnastics, chess, football, golf, tennis, badminton and archery. Johnians are the winners of the U/14 Subroto Cup and Inter School Gymnastics. Our school has a Hockey field given to us by our old boys as well as archery and a basketball court. Facilities for Volleyball, Kabaddi, Yoga and Kho Kho; these traditional sports are also provided for. The school also has a skating rink. Our students have brought laurels to the school at the International level also in various sports like Golf, Football, Tennis etc.

The Br. W. E. Kyle Memorial Trophy 'IolairRiyoga', meaning "The Royal Eagles" in Irish, is a remarkable piece of art and creativity. It is a running trophy and is awarded to the best performing house every year. For the year 2016-17, Br. Rice House was declared the winning house.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The SJOBA Foundation has initiated numerous scholarships for the Johnians in the area of academics and sports. A unique award, the 'Ranvijay Trophy' for the 'Nicest Boys' in the school from classes 8 and 10 was instituted in memory of Old Boy Ranvijay by his classmate Sandeep. The Bro. Meredith scholarship for a deserving Indradhanush Boy from class 5 has been instituted by yet another old boy. SJOBA Foundation also awards scholarships for the Best Sportsman, Best in Academics and Best All-rounder. Each scholarship carries a minimum cash prize of Rs.10,000/- The latest award instituted is the best "All Rounder Award." The batch of 1985 have instituted a scholarship in memory of Second Lt. Rajeev Sandhu MVC (Batch of 1982), for deserving Sportsmen.

GEOLOGY MUSEUM: Our school has the credit to itself of being the only school in the country to have a geology museum with a varied collection of rocks, minerals, corals and fossils named after Br. R.I. Meredith.

FOSTER PARENT PROGRAMME: Every teacher has adopted two EWS students as her sons in school. The teacher looks after the over all performance which includes academics, co-scholastic, value education and personality development of the child. Teachers also visit their homes voluntarily to develop a comfort level with the families of the EWS students by showing concern and making an effort to understand them so that we can render help in the best possible manner also developing a great bond between the teacher and the student.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMME: Staff of the school was trained by a member of the National Literacy Mission to begin the adult education classes for the parents of the children from the EWS. This provides the children with a support structure at home and helps parents to keep abreast of what their children do in school. This programme is running successfully for the past 8 years and going from strength to strength.

PROTECTION OFFICERS: For the protection and safety of the children, there are two Protection Officers, one in the Junior and Senior school each. Suggestion boxes have been installed for the children to put their concerns, suggestion etc. ensuring confidentiality of the concerns. All the matters are looked into by the Protection Officers and necessary action is taken if needed.
